I was gifted a kindle for my birthday this year from the girls and it has been my companion on my train rides to work every morning. I’ve finished reading 3 books to date and i thought they were all really good reads!

1. Me before you – Jojo Moyes

one of my favourite quotes from the book

I wasn’t expecting much from this book because the cover page was pretty girly and i thought it might just one another one of those over fantasised fairy tale books. I was wrong. I couldn’t put the book down the moment i started and i even missed a train stop because my eyes were pretty much glued to reading. I won’t go into much detail into what the book is about, but heart wrenching is how i would describe it. I think i finished the book with teary eyes.

2. The Longest Ride – Nicholas Sparks

Well, the reason why i decided to start on this book was because i saw the trailer for this and i thought ok, i shall read it before i watched the movie. I wasn’t disappointed. I have a long term reading relationship with Nicholas Sparks books and i do have a few favorites like “The last song” and “Safe haven“. The book is about how 2 different couples have somewhat converging lives with unexpected poignancy. I loved how it was a story paralleling the lives of a young couple and an old couple. The novel’s heart-gripping and it brings out emotions you wouldn’t expect.

3. Before i go – Colleen Oakley

Pretty intense and thought provoking. It makes you wonder if one day you were diagnosed with some terminal disease, what would you do, and how would you handle the thoughts of your loved one having to move on. What would be your plans from there. The novel’s honest mixed with slight humour and emotion. “Spend quality time with those you care about. Communicate what’s important to you. Let go of the stress and busyness of life and enjoy what you have while you have it because no one is guaranteed tomorrow.”

I’ll update this list more once i have completed the next few books.
