Summer Pokē Salad Bowl

Food - June 19, 2016

Although I can’t exactly say that Summer is here because the weather still gets pretty chilly, but it’s summery enough to indulge in a really fresh bowl of Pokē Salad! These could cost quite a bit if you ordered them outside, when it’s actually really simple to make on your own and doesn’t take too much of your time (Plus, it’s more affordable). Of course, the choice of fish does not have to be tuna, you could use salmon if you preferred. Ultimately, you could customize this salad in so many ways according to your preference!

The Marinade:
Soy Sauce            Mirin
Sesame Oil          Honey
Sesame Seeds     Minced Ginger

Garnish
Spring onions adds onto the flavour as well as gets rid of the fishy taste when biting into the fish. Be as generous as you want when adding these!

Salad Greens
We used a mix of spinach and beetroot salad for our bowl. But you could use whatever you prefer! The tuna goes well with watercress salad / wild rocket leaves as well.

After placing the tuna chunks into a bag (it makes it easier for you to massage the marinade in). Combine the spring onions into the marinade and drizzle them over the tuna. Allow the tuna to marinate for at least 15-30 mins.

Aside from all the ingredients mentioned above, you could add in other stuff like nuts, raisins, edamame, corn, tofu, and even fruits like mangoes and pomegranate seeds! This Pokē bowl is one of those dishes where you could mix and match a whole load of stuff and it would still taste as delicious. Give it a go! You’ll be craving for it soon enough.

Have a good weekend! x
